Mauro Correa

Mauro Correa was born and raised in Niterói, across Guanabara Bay from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A classically trained guitarist, Mauro is deeply familiar with all styles of Brazilian música popular (choro, samba, forró, Bossa-Nova…) as well as other Latin American musical styles. He has lived and played in Germany, India, Mexico, and Argentina. In the USA since 1997, Mauro has founded and directed an organization to promote Latin American chamber music, written scores for films, recorded widely and played in hundreds of concerts featuring the music of Latin America. He is artistic director of Choro Camp New England and the founder and director of BRAPA, Brazilian Performing Artists, Inc. In 2025 Mauro and his family relocated to Northampton, where he cultivates plants in his garden and  students in his teaching studio.
