Anne Prescott is the director of the Five College Center for East Asian Studies (FCCEAS) and one of seven national directors for the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA).
Prescott began studying koto as an undergraduate at Cornell College in Iowa, and she received her MA and PhD degrees at Kent State University where she wrote her dissertation on koto performer, composer and teacher Miyagi Michio. She spent eight years living and studying traditional music in Japan, including one year as a research student at Tokyo University of the Arts. Since returning to the US she has taught koto at Augustana College and the University of Illinois.
