Mark Turcotte - Conductor, Arranger, Trombonist

Trombonist Mark Turcotte has been a member of the Bombyx Brass Collective since its inception in 2022. As a freelance trombonist he has performed with a variety of ensembles playing diverse styles including Berkshire Big Band, Commonwealth Opera Company and Creacíon Latin Big Band.

He was involved with Northampton’s indie music scene in the late 1990’s, playing bass with such artists as Matt Hebert, Zeke Fiddler and Angry Johnny, and toured Europe and the U.S. playing trombone with Steve Westfield and the Slow Band. He remains the bassist for local alt-country band Treefort.

Mark earned his bachelor’s degree at Westfield State University and is in his 23rd year as middle school band director for the town of West Springfield.
