Vidhi Salla is a cultural arts curator, journalist and radio show host based in Vermont, USA. She curates specialized movie screenings of classic and contemporary Indian films in New England theaters to help audiences engage and access Indian cinema with a deeper understanding. Her internationally streaming radio show, Vidhi’s Bollywood Jukebox has received accolades and recognition from audiences all over the world. Vidhi writes a monthly column on Indian cinema for Vermont-based dailies, Brattleboro Reformer, Bennington Banner and Manchester Journal. She is occasionally invited to DJ Bollywood dance parties and curate music for special in-person events.
Vidhi is the founder of Vidhiism, a unique curation outfit through which she hosts Indian movie-watching experiences for overseas audiences. Prior to every screening, she presents a thoroughly researched cultural introduction to the film. Also part of the screening is a pop-up bazaar of Vidhiism Handicrafts, handmade Indian goods sourced by Vidhi directly from the makers. Adding to the authentic Indian experience of the events is Indian food that she works with the venue to help the chef prepare. She hosts a monthly film series at Garden Cinemas in Greenfield, Massachusetts as well as a weekly series every winter in collaboration with Brattleboro, Vermont's Latchis Theatre.
Originally from Mumbai, India, Vidhi was featured in local newspapers of the US (Manchester Journal, Bennington Banner, The Commons, Brattleboro Reformer, Greenfield Recorder) and India (Mid-Day) for her curation efforts, her radio show and for creating awareness about Indian cinema among the local populace.
Vidhi has a Masters degree in English Literature and has worked as an editor in print publishing. She is a regular contributor to On Stage magazine, a members-exclusive publication owned and managed by Mumbai's prestigious venue, National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).
In the winter of 2020, Vidhi started an online film club that connected audiences from different parts of the world over zoom. Following the success of the film club, Vidhi was awarded a grant for future in-person movie events by Vermont’s local nonprofit known as the ‘Arts Council of Windham County’.
