Community Guitar is founded on the notion that the best music is the kind we make together. To that end, Andrew Lawrence offers group classes to acoustic guitarists who want to be jamming with others rather than playing alone. This fall, the 10-week class that will meet on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 here at Bombyx will be specifically oriented toward newcomers to Community Guitar.
This one-evening introductory workshop will give you a taste of what a Community Guitar class is like, so you can decide whether the ongoing class is right for you.
In this 2-hour workshop we'll learn a tune together, focusing on the three skill-sets that make it possible to fully participate in a jam
While this workshop is suitable for guitarists with only basic skills, it is not a beginning guitar class. Participants should, at a minimum, be able to strum through a number of songs using common guitar chords, without hesitating to make chord changes. Experience with music theory and lead guitar is welcome, but not necessary.
If you opt into an ongoing class, you’ll find yourself with a ready-made community of people working on the same skills and songs, eager to make music with you. That's Community Guitar.
