Billy Prine is a natural-born storyteller just like his late, great, older brother John Prine was a natural-born songwriter. John was a great communicator of the human experience whittled down to its essence. Billy relates – as only kin can – the stories behind the songs and then performs them with his band in this unique show. In addition to Prine favorites, Billy will do deeper cuts that John rarely performed on tour like “Billy the Bum” from Prine’s second album, 1972’s Diamonds in the Rough and “Iron Ore Betty” from 1978’s Bruised Orange. Billy, whose own music leans more blues, will also slide in at least one of his originals. Storytelling is a gift that all four Prine brothers inherited from their parents, Billy said. “It’s just in our DNA.”
