Tim Eriksen is the only musician to have shared the stage with both Kurt Cobain and Doc Watson (not at the same time!) and performed at CBGBs and Carnegie Hall. He performed at the Academy Awards, having contributed extensively to the 2004 Oscar-winning film Cold Mountain. Eriksen’s startling interpretations of old ballads, love songs, shape-note gospel and dance tunes from New England and Southern Appalachia combine hair-raising vocals with banjo, fiddle, and guitar.
Mama’s Broke is a unique and powerful folk duo that both honors and defies tradition. Lisa and Amy blend two strong voices in haunting harmonies, artfully juggling fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin. They incorporate traditional dance and foot percussion as part of their performance. Their original – and often dark – compositions draw from old-time, Quebecois, blues, punk, Celtic, Balkan and even doom metal.
