Shawn Colvin

In the late 80s, Shawn Colvin’s relationship with the Valley took root at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton. She performed breathtaking opening sets for veteran artists like Richard Thompson and Loudon Wainwright who she would very soon count among her peers. She graduated to headliner status before she had even released an album, selling out her homemade live cassette every night before signing a record contract with Columbia in short order. Shawn won her first GRAMMY® Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album with her 1989 debut album, Steady On. An eventful decade later, Colvin triumphed again at the 1998 GRAMMY® Awards, winning both Record and Song of the Year for “Sunny Came Home.”

Shawn Colvin has been a mainstay of the singer-songwriter world, releasing thirteen superlative albums and establishing herself as one of America’s most revered live performers. Her songs are slow-release works of craft and catharsis that become treasured, lifetime companions for their listeners.

Bonnie Raitt says, “She’s simply one of the best singers I’ve ever heard – and a truly gifted and deep songwriter and guitarist.”
