Michelle Marroquin is a dancer and performance artist with over 20 years of experience choreographing odd and diverse events, and most recently Dance Films.
Her training includes a strong foundation in ballet and modern dance, Mexican folk dance, and Odissi Classical Indian dance. She moved to the U.S. from Mexico City to study dance and anthropology at Hampshire College, and later received my MFA in performance and choreography at Smith College. She has performed with various New York City choreographers, including David Dorfman, Zvi Gotheiner and Yanira Castro. Since 2003, She has made the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts my home, where she collaborates with local artists to create original performance art using the body and its environment as primary elements.
Always inspired by the body and how we move, she has certifications in Yoga, Reiki, Thai Bodywork, Pilates, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis. Licensed in 2016 to be a Physical Therapist Assistant, she works with Physical Therapists in various clinics while teaching movement classes and private sessions using the Gyrotonic Method. Her classes welcome people of all abilities who are interested in learning creative ways to be in their bodies.
