Peter Blanchette, renowned for his innovative 11-string archguitar work, and acclaimed Irish singer Éilís Kennedy create a captivating fusion of sound, matching Blanchette’s unique archguitar arrangements with Kennedy’s traditional Irish “gan tionlacan” (unaccompanied) songs. Drawing from Kennedy’s heritage in Baile an Mhúraigh, West Kerry, the songs amount to a sort of lyrical picture album of a genuinely musical and poetic family in the West Kerry tradition. Kennedy’s performances highlight her vocal mastery of this style of singing and gorgeous phrasing and ornamentation. Blanchette’s arrangements combine the flavor of the archguitar’s evocative tones – suggestive of a John Dowland / Seán Ó Riada mashup - with Kennedy’s spellbinding singing and create a powerful and intimate dialogue, offering a heavenly and haunting exploration of Irish musical tradition. The duo will be joined by local violinist/violist and BOMBYX regular, Charlotte Collins.
