The Bombyx Brass Collective is a resident ensemble of the Bombyx Center, inspired by the passion and dedication of area amateur and professional musicians, and devoted to presenting quality music to diverse audiences. The 30-piece ensemble, founded in January 2022, features diverse combinations of players and instruments within its performances, and plays a mix of musical genres from classical to jazz to pop. BBC members include active and retired music teachers, working professional musicians, current college music majors, and talented amateur musicians.
Join Music Director, Margaret Reidy and the entire ensemble, for the start of their second season, as they bring their musical vision back to the Bombyx stage. Experience a journey through brass ensemble repertoire featuring stalwarts of the classical composition world, as well as modern musical discoveries. Our November program will include the music of Elgar, Beethoven, Gabrielli, Debussy, Frescobaldi, and Tchaikovsky, as well as modern works and a few “holiday appetizers”, as we help kick off the upcoming winter season.
Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted online in advance or at the door. All proceeds go to support future programming, including masterclasses and performances that the group is planning in local public schools in 2023.
